The overall goal of this Network is to reduce the prevalence of
obesity in the United States. The Network partners are collaborating
in a two-year process to develop a national research and intervention
agenda for the prevention and control of obesity in the United States.
The specific aims are to:
- Explore policy and environmental strategies and
approaches to the prevention and control of obesity, including
community-based programs and interventions to promote physical
activity and nutrition
- Provide technical assistance and consultation to the Centers
for Disease Control and Prevention and to state health departments
on policy development and the design, implementation, and evaluation
of obesity prevention and intervention programs
