CO-INVESTIGATORS:

COVID-19 vaccination is a promising strategy in responding the pandemic. This study aims to increase COVID-19 vaccinations throughout 19 underserved counties in South Carolina. The project will engage community stakeholders to understand barriers and facilitators to vaccine uptake, particularly in the African American community. Peer advocates will be trained to share correct information about the vaccines, and professional navigators will address barriers to vaccination within communities. Communication and social marketing tools will be tailored based on stakeholder input to promote vaccine uptake. This project is conducted in partnership with the South Carolina Department of Health and Environmental Control’s Division of STD/HIV & Viral Hepatitis, the South Carolina Community Health Worker Association, Palmetto Aids Life Support Services, and CAN Community Health.
