Congratulations to Dantz Woodberry, Sam Noblet, and Deborah Kinnard for completing the Gamecock Research Administrators Network Training (GRANT) Certificate Program!

USC PRC staff Dantz Woodberry (PRC Business Manager), Sam Noblet (SC Cancer Prevention and Control Research Network Program Coordinator) and Deborah Kinnard (PRC Program Manager) recently completed the Gamecock Research Administrators Network Training (GRANT) Certificate Program offered through the University of South Carolina Office of Research and Grant Development.

The GRANT program is designed for faculty researchers and staff involved in research administration, and it complements standards established by the National Council of University Research Administrators. “The GRANT program not only helped me to better understand the grant award processes that I work with every day, the program helped me to understand what is needed of me by other co-workers in relation to the grant I work on,” says Sam Noblet. Participants receive 40 hours of instruction on topics such as proposal development, sponsored award management, and research compliance and regulations, as well as training on using resources to identify funding opportunities. Classes are facilitated by Office of Research subject matter experts and participants must pass a comprehensive final examination. “I appreciated hearing from and interacting directly with lead staff and learning more about each Office’s role, its services, and resources. As a result, I feel better equipped to manage each stage of the grant cycle, and I know where to go for guidance,” says Deborah Kinnard.

A ceremony was held on Thursday, February 14. 2019, where Dr. Prakash Nagarkatti, Vice
President of Research, recognized graduates.
