USC PRC Students Receive Recognition

USC PRC student Jorge Banda received a number of recognitions and awards at the Arnold School of Public Health graduation ceremony on May 4, 2012.

USC PRC Student Jorge Banda Recognized for Outstanding Achievements at USC Graduation

Congratulations to USC PRC student, Jorge Banda, for his recognitions and awards at this year’s Arnold School of Public Health graduation ceremony.  Jorge will be graduating this August with his PhD in Exercise Science.

Jorge was the recipient of the Arnold School of Public Health Doctoral Student Achievement Award.  Established in 1993, this award is presented to an outstanding doctoral candidate who is selected on the basis of academic performance and potential for further contributions to the field of public health. He also received the Department of Exercise Science Graduate Student Award.

Additionally, Jorge was inducted into the Mu Chapter of Delta Omega Honorary Society in Public Health, a society that elects members based on their outstanding scholarship and encourages them to continue pursing public health work.

Jorge will continue his work in public health next fall as he begins a postdoctoral fellowship at the Stanford Prevention Research Center.  Keep up the good work, Jorge!



USC PRC Student Danielle Schoffman Wins Top Prize for
Poster Presentation

USC PRC student Danielle Schoffman took top prize for her poster in the Health and Life Sciences category at the 11th Annual Graduate Student Day on March 27, 2012.

USC PRC Graduate Assistant and PhD student Danielle Schoffman was recognized for her research achievements at the 11th Annual USC Graduate Student Day Awards, winning first place for her scientific poster in the Health and Life Sciences category.  Her poster, “Association of Body Mass Index with Physical Function and Health-Related Quality of Life in Adults with Arthritis” examined baseline data from PRC SIP 09-028, Evaluation of a Self-Directed Packaged Physical Activity Program for Adults with Arthritis.  Danielle is currently preparing a manuscript of the same title for publication.
